Layla is a recent graduate of NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences, with degrees in Environmental Studies and English, and a concentration in Creative Writing. Throughout her academic and professional career, she has developed a strong interest in climate communications, particularly in uplifting underrepresented voices and making information more accessible. She has experience in communications and research, having worked for the environmental startup Seawards and served as Senior Editor of NYU’s cultural criticism magazine, The Green Street Review. Through additional volunteer work on community farms and as a co-organizer of beach clean-ups on Long Island, Layla has also cultivated a deep interest in grassroots causes and their development. In her free time, she enjoys puzzles, playing volleyball, reading, and walking any and every distance.

I’m excited to join ASC because of the intersectional approaches they take to each project they work on. They listen to both experts and community members equally, taking all fronts into account when creating that bridge for change. The work already feels really meaningful and impactful!"
